Not all is in the Internet

My favourite place in Barcelona is the Sant Antoni market of used books and collections, on Conde de Urgell street.

There, every sunday morning lots of mobile stalls are set. Most of them are branches of normal libraries, which use the market to sell certain material: second, third hand or even more books and documents, old books, odd stuff.

It is also a meeting point of enthusiast collectors of any think, who arrange barters.

The atmosphere is itself charming but if you find something interesting -what is not difficult at all- you may even feel a special person. I do not exaggerate: there, you will find things which no one will have apart from you, things not existing in any other place, not even the Internet.

Last sunday, for example, for some 20€, I found some interesting books and four original National Geographic magazines since 1972, including one mythical number and some more with curious content about environmental topics.

Over the time, I´ve finding lots of rare things: a share of the historic Aragonish mining company Minas y Ferrocarril de Utrillas, books about safety and health, environment, urbanism, customs in general, that are almost 200 years old. There is not in all the Internet a site with the information that those books bring me. Such exclusivity makes it very interesting, also from the professional point of view. In fact, that is the main source of the already published “Aragon Valley Classics“, and more post coming soon.

Internet is a great tool with impressive and useful applications for almost any field in the life, but there are still lots of authentic things which are not there. And that never won’t, fortunately. This entry is only a little example.

If you travel to Barcelona, don´t leave without visiting the Sant Antoni market of used books and collections. You will feel the special and authentic person you are.
